"I
welcome the pain your birth will bring
for I know that it will teach me many lessons about life,
about rewards that come after hard work,
about submission, surrender, sacrifice,
about devotion, commitment & faith
I would do anything for you my dear precious child
and when it is all over, I am blessed
with your beautiful perfect slippery little body"
- excerpt from A Mother’s Vow to Her Unborn

Labour
and Birth
14 hours of labour - 10 hours at home, 4 at hospital.
9 minute 2nd stage. 3 minute 3rd stage.
Mika
was born into a very gentle, loving environment; without any drugs or interventions.
I
was honoured to give him such a warm and wonderful beginning to life, one which
neither of us shall ever forget.
Thanks
to our awesome doula Jan for these photos!
(Full
birth story to be added soon! Be sure to check back.)

Justin and
I working together.

8 cms - sitting
on birth stool.

Using the
"peanut" birth ball being supported by a great nurse.

Midwife Patti
holds my hand through a contraction.

One of the
first pushes - Mika was born only 5 minutes later!

Here he comes!
Mika surprised everyone with his fast arrival.

Patti and
I delivered him to my chest together.

A beautiful
beginning.
